Since I think it's a shame to waste research, if I ever *do* end up running a tabletop nWoD game someday, I'll probably end up setting it in either Washington D.C. or Philadelphia. I'll admit that the research for both places was done a couple of years ago now, but most of the material I have (maps, etc.) is still viable.

...unless you're setting it around the Art Museum. :)

Okies, I've gotta rant a little. I wanted my Changeling character to have a low Intelligence and Manipulation to illustrate how her mind had been damaged by her time with The Others, but I wanted her to be a decent musician. Also, I think it's more fun to play a character with a few low Attributes, it's so boring when you're mostly 2s and 3s. I've been reading the World of Darkness core rulebook cover to cover just so I can clear the cobwebs and get some of my oWoD dogma cleared away and I found a serious WtF when it comes to the Expression skill. I've read it several times and I still can't get my mind 'round it. Performing non-oringinal works is an Intelligence + Expression + Equipment roll? Intelligence and not Presence?? How is entertaining an audience remotely about taxing your cognitive power? Sure, it takes memory to remember lyrics and notes, but any decent musician will practice a song many times before going out to perform. The guy who wrote this must not have any real-life experience.

Go figure. Maybe it's a typo?

I'd like to think so. I love all the rules changes besides that. I've finally gotten used to +N and -N meaning adding dice rather than difficulty.

I don't know. It does make sense how they would arrive at it. Think about it from the point of view of everyone that is not the frontman (keyboardist in the back, violin in a symphony, drum major in a marching band, etc.). How are any of those Presence? All of those cases are focused on the technical skills of the musician and I'm sorry but playing an instrument is an intelligence based effort. Making a performance interesting would certainly be Presence, but actually having control of the instrument and hitting the notes is Intelligence.
This is certainly true with non-original works since you've got decent odds of someone in the audience (or the entire audience) knowing that you're doing it wrong.
You could make a case for needing two rolls. One for technical skills and the other for crowd control, but show me a case where playing Handel takes more Presence than Intelligence.
