At long last, the pregenerated characters for my CtL adventure at UBCon XX are complete! I finished the last cover sheet (the last thing I had to do) yesterday.

It feels good to finally be done, especially since I started working on this project last May (writing the backgrounds and making up the character sheets for ten Lost - and trying to make them all unique - was a lot of work).

Many, many kudos go out to the folks at DriveThruRPG, Mr. Gone, and ad_masquerade - without their efforts, I'd never have been able to pull this off. Having Ebooks, fillable PDF character sheets, and artwork for the cover sheets readily available made things so much easier!
So, [livejournal.com profile] lostsatyr turned me on to Naruto a while back.

Since I've been planning a Changeling: The Lost game for UBCon, I've been kicking around a few ideas, chiefly one to create an analogue of one of my more favorite characters in the series, Neji Hyuga (image here; Neji's the one on the right) in Changeling: The Lost.

The best I've been able to come up with (so far) has been a Fairest (either Draconic or Dancer). A Hunterheart (lion or tiger, most likely) is another possibility, and I could even think about playing up some of his personality traits and making him a Snowskin (he is pretty darn cold, emotionally, at least at the start of the series).

Something to think about, mayhaps. =)
...eventually, once my WtA game wraps up (which won't be for some time yet).

ETA: This is going to be a Face-to-Face game. Sorry for any confusion.
I just got Rites of Spring and the CtL screen for 17 cents (after applying the gift certificate)!

I love Amazon.com gift certificates!
Has anyone who's played both Dreaming and Lost noticed that with Lost, you can actually *make* the characters that you had to pretty much shoehorn into a kith in CtD?

Case in point - back when I was playing Dreaming, I had a character that I wanted to base on the Japanese tennyo, or celestial nymph. In CtD, the best I could come up with was to make her an eshu. Given that I had only nine kiths to choose from, I made the best of it, but I was never really satisfied.

With Lost, I have a number of choices for that character - Dancer (in one story, the celestial maiden dances for a mortal), Airtouched (the tennyo were said to live in the sky), possibly even Draconic (equating "celestial" to "angel"). Were I to modify the original concept a bit, I could even see her being a Woodblood or a Flowering.

It's wonderful to have that sort of choice, instead of having to pick something that almost-but-doesn't-quite fit, and hoping for the best. With Lost, I can make characters the way I want to from the beginning. :)

Road trip

Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] lostsatyr and I took a trip out Rochester-way to visit some of our favorite places to shop.

We went to Crazy Egor's, where I picked up Winter Masques for CtL, a number of issues and compilations of Knights of the Dinner Table, and a Gloom Cookie compilation that had looked interesting the last time I'd been at the store and that was still there. It was much fun talking with Egor himself; we go way back. :)

Then we went to Hammergirl Anime, where I picked up the latest volume of the My-HiME manga and the first DVD of Simoun, an anime series I've been waiting for since I saw the sneak preview of it at Yurisai back in September. I look forward to watching it again...and seeing the two episodes they didn't preview at the con.

Then it was over to Taste of India, for truly scrumptious Indian cuisine. I even have some of the yummy Chicken Tikka Masala left over! *squees*

We also used this trip to try out the car adapter for our MP3 players that we got ourselves for Xmas. It worked very well. :)
Here's a very rough "blurb" for The Second Rome, a tabletop CtL game I'm thinking of running sometime in the future.

Something to let percolate through the back corners of my mind for a while, I guess....
I now have a copy of Changeling: The Lost!

I've been reading through it, and I thoroughly, thoroughly love it. I'm already bubbling over with ideas.

I'm going to have so much fun with this book!

*lovingly strokes her copy of CtL*
Stopped by the library yesterday after getting a haircut.

In addition to the weekly load of "brain candy" (read, manga), I checked out some guidebooks on New England (inspired by [livejournal.com profile] justric's old game, I'm putting Miles Cross on the north shore of MA), two books on urban legends (great source material for a nWoD game, methinks), and a book on PA hauntings (for my tabletop WtA game).

I am now a happy little geek.
Contrary to expectations, I will not be getting a print copy of CtL this weekend. Apparently, my FnsLGS didn't get a shipment this week 'cause they were at GenCon, so I'll probably have to wait until [livejournal.com profile] lostsatyr and I get back from vacation.

*insert disappointed gamer whimpering here*

(It's OK, really. I've waited this long; another week or so won't matter. :)

ETA: I *do* have a copy on order at the aforementioned Friendly not so Local Game Store. Just wanted to clear up some confusion. =)

It's here!

For those of you who've been waiting (I know I have), Changeling the Lost is now available on DriveThruRPG.com!
Only a week until Changeling: The Lost is released.

I must be patient...I must be patient....

Aw, frell! I want the book now!
I *cannot wait* until this game comes out.

And yes, I'll probably end up running it. I've got a couple of ideas percolating through my head, but I think I'll need to wait for the book to firm them up.

My firmest ideas involve the characters all emerging from Faerie into the real world at the same time and place - a good way to get them to hang together at first, I think. And hopefully after a few shared adventures, they'll have developed enough of a bond to stay together.

I just hope I can find some way to play the character I have in mind....
For those of you who weren't able to get a paper copy, you can now download the Changeling: The Lost demo on White Wolf's website!
[livejournal.com profile] lostsatyr and I went to Milennium Games & Hobbies in Rochester for Free RPG Day yesterday.

I'd really only been intending to snag a couple copies of the Changeling: The Lost demo adventure and then [livejournal.com profile] lostsatyr and I would go next door to Taste of India for lunch (they've got a *scrumptious* buffet), but the fellow who had the CtL demo was running a Scion adventure, and one of the characters available was Yukiko Kuromizu, the Scion of Susano-o. As I told [livejournal.com profile] lostsatyr, how could I resist? =)

I had great fun, even if some of the players there were close to the stereotype of the gamer guy. I was amused that I had to explain to the fellow playing the Scion of Tezcatlipoca that "No, this game doesn't have alignments," when he asked me if the Scion of Aphrodite was "the chaotic character." I also had a bit of fun at the expense of the fellow playing the Scion of Aphrodite when I corrected his misconception about how "Oriental women don't do that" (involving something my character did). Err, excuse me, you're sitting right next to one IRL? =)

I had a great time playing the game - so much so that I couldn't stop talking about it to [livejournal.com profile] lostsatyr over lunch. He was quite taken with the ideas of the game, too, so I went back to the store and picked up a copy of the rules. As I told the GM, "I sold the hubby on it!" He gave me a thumbs-up. :D

I did get what I came for - and since the fellow who'd been playing the Scion of Tezcatlipoca didn't want a copy of the CtL demo, I was able to get one to give to [livejournal.com profile] justric. Huzzah!

I like the CtL demo, but in some ways it's just enough to tantalize me. I'd rather it contained some sample splats, powers, etc. (a'la the Promethean: The Created demo book); the adventure and the sample characters just didn't seem to grab me. Maybe it's just me. I do like the hints about what the game is going to be like, though - I'm eagerly awaiting the release of this one come August.

After lunch at the aforementioned scrumptious Indian buffet, we returned to Buffalo for [livejournal.com profile] ambrose_rinaldo's D&D game. [livejournal.com profile] justric stopped by with his adorable little girl, and we got to spent a bit of time chatting, which made me happy. He also brought me some homemade ginger beer! Yee! *does the happy dance* I was very pleased to give him the CtL demo - he seemed so pleased to get it! :)

And now to eat breakfast....
So, [livejournal.com profile] jesshartley's mondo cool reading and Q&A about CtL this past weekend, as well as [livejournal.com profile] justric's comment here to [livejournal.com profile] lostsatyr, has me thinking about a possible CtL character....

Behind a cut for those who don't wanna bother.... )

I'll have to wait until the game comes out to flesh out the details, but this is a character I think I could really enjoy playing.
