I just finished Changes by Jim Butcher last night.
Ho. Lee. Shit.
I can see why the hubby doesn't want to incorporate the events of that book into our game. They pretty much invalidate one of the character templates.
The climax, though, was pretty damn awesome. I have to admit, while I was reading it, there was a movie playing in my head - or maybe it was more like an anime series. Way cool, either way.
We're going to take a cruise out to the bookstore today - I wanna see if I can grab a copy of Side Jobs, the collection of short stories.
I am seriously loving these books - they're great stuff.

Date: 2011-01-17 07:34 pm (UTC)From:If you don't use the events of the book in your game, you have two choices:
Set the game earlier in the vampire war, and hope that you just don't run long enough that you get to the bit of the timeline that Changes occupies. This could be done in interesting ways by setting the game in the 1980's or earlier (1940's Dresdenverse?).
Figure out what your cannon ending to the vampire war is, and run that. Who wins? Note that if the Red Court wins, you've got the same problem for the Wizard template (no one will have it).
And indeed, they are great books, and they get more epic all the time.
