So, C and I went out to see Avengers yesterday.

I very much enjoyed it - the writing is solid, it moves well, and there was enough in there from the source material to keep the fangirl in me entertained. Whedon has all his ducks in a row here. :)

It didn't click with me until after we'd left the theater that it was Thanos who shows up at the end. Hooboy.

The cast has it together, and most of the characterizations were spot on...or at least believable for this Marvel fangirl - who had a big smile on her face when the Helicarrier rose into the air for the first time (yeah, I can be that much of a geek).

"You rented my room." C liked that, especially since, as he put it, "They had it for a purpose other than just waiting around for Loki." :)

I was glad to see the Hawkeye/Widow romance referenced, as well as a nod to the way Clint started his career, way back in the day (the things one learns reading the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe....). And the next time I play in a supers game, I *want* that quiver. :)

So, yeah. Good stuff. I'm a little disappointed that it's over, though.

One of my other friends mentioned something like this: "I hope Hollywood is listening to the way blockbusters are supposed to be done, but if the only lesson they take away is that Joss Whedon should write all movies, it wouldn't be bad either..."
