Good gods, am I one of the few people who can play a Scathach without turning it into some stupid twinked-out video-game character clone?
If the whole reason to play one of them is the battle stats, then I'm obviously weird. I started playing them 'cause I liked their blazon (yes, I am a sucker for black unicorns :)
*Admonishes her Scathach characters not to go after the twit with extreme prejudice*

Date: 2004-02-10 03:23 am (UTC)From:As far as the munchkin that you mention, what a joke. The other PCs should have declared him public enemy numero uno. I have an NPC antagonist that has a history almost as bad as this guy's, but a) he's a redcap and b) he's on everyone's "ten most wanted" list.

Would it help if I said I was just as shocked?

Stupid twinkie...

Date: 2004-02-10 05:00 am (UTC)From:I am recalling a certain Scathach... With Title 3 and Holdings 3... Who last time I saw him was working on marrying a countess, and was sacking freeholds so he could hand them out to his friends.
Apparently someone missed a line or two in the Scathach House Description in The Shining Host. (Not to mention the entire chapter in Lost Houses.)
Not to mention he was part of an entire motley of characters inspired by a certain Computer RPG. (The theory, as I understood it was that the amount of people that played those games with dedication would undoubtably have an effect on the dreaming.)
Another one of *those*
Date: 2004-02-10 12:55 pm (UTC)From:I made the mistake of allowing a Brujah PC like that into one of my VtM one-shots. The character was part of an entire coterie based on a team of super-powered vigilantes (given some of the tactics they employed, I'd hesitate to call them heroes)

When I play Scathach, I like to play up the social penalties, and their "half-breed" status (having been picked on as a kid for being Eurasian, I can relate! :). I've even reminded other PCs that they were *supposed* to look down on my characters (which I doubt any of the munchkins do).
I guess what I'm trying to say here is, you can RP well with a Scathach. Just like you can RP well with a Gangrel or a Euthanatos or a redcap. It's just that those character types seem to attract the twinks, so that a GM can get burned out by the time a good player actually comes along.
Or maybe these are just the ramblings of someone on meds for a toothache, who hasn't had breakfast yet....;)
