I never used to play mortal characters in WoD games. I always played supernatural types. Even if the characters I played weren't vampires, werewolves, changelings, or whatever, they were usually ghouls, Kinfolk, Kinain, etc. Regular, garden-variety mortals? Boring!
That was before my current character. Michiko "Mickey" Hayase is a university student with no special abilities whatsoever (other than some extra creative talent that might make her a good Dreamer in Changeling). And I'm having a blast playing her! Maybe it's because the other supernatural types have a "been there, done that" sort of feeling for me (I've been playing and STing WoD games more or less weekly for more than a decade), but I think I'm discovering the fun that playing a garden-variety mortal in a world of supernatural critters can be.
